Teach each other sports
Allow teenagers to share their knowledge and skills about sports.
Invite a teenager to teach others about new sports for the group or teach skills for improvement in the usual sport (consider inviting an inactive teenager or a friend of another faith). He can also discuss the rules and equipment of the sport. Play the sport as a group. Consider discussing how to keep the spirit of friendship even in a competitive scenario. Noncompetitive physical activity
Exercise and build friendships in a non-competitive environment.
Participate in fun activities that are physical but relaxed and non-competitive. Below are some ideas. Encourage teenagers to suggest their own ideas, based on the things they want to do. At the end of the activity, invite teenagers to share whatever spiritual lessons they learn from participating in the activity (for example, if you go hiking, they can share their feelings about the beauty of God’s creation and our responsibility to care for it).
Go biking together.
Go play skates or skateboard.
Do a group jumping game. You can start with one person, and with each round of rope add one more person until the whole group plays a jump rope. Or, when the rope is spinning, have the teen try to run through it one by one.
Improve physical fitness and encourage friendship through athletics.
Hold a tournament where youth participate in small teams or as individuals, play basketball, table tennis, soccer, dodgeball, or other sports. Make teams randomly to help teenagers interact with people they may not know well. Consider inviting community members to form teams and participate in tournaments. After the tournament, discuss what teens learn about working as a team and communicating with others.
Build teamwork and exercise while participating in a friendly competition.
Conduct a game that allows teenagers to move and need teamwork. Here are some ideas. Also, encourage teenagers to suggest games they know. If necessary, adjust the game to allow teenagers of all skill levels to participate. Consider how you can link teamwork and have fun by maintaining a balance in life
Play football while crawling with your hands and feet (with your chest facing up).
Play volleyball with a water balloon. Teenagers are divided into pairs, and each couple holds a towel at each end to throw a water balloon over the net, where the other couple tries to catch it with their towel.
Do a relay race, and think of creative ways to make the race more challenging. For example, teenagers can race with a balloon between their knees, balance an egg on a spoon, crawling with their backs, and so on.
Play tug of war. Divide into two teams. Each team holds one end of a long rope and tries to pull the other team past a predetermined point.
Develop physical fitness and build community.
Hold a 5K run or walk for teenagers. Invite an experienced runner to teach you about heating, cooling, or running techniques. Ask him to talk about the benefits of physical fitness. You can also invite community members to participate.
